Ene Mihkelson (1944-2017) was an Estonian poet and prose writer. Her novels depict the Estonian and post-soviet history and the impact the societal ruptures have had on the human and the society. She writes about betrayal, lack of trust, longing for justice and the need for working though the past. Her work is considered to contribute to the philosophy of remembering.Translations
Ene Mihkelson's poetry has been translated into English, German, Dutch, Galician, Hungarian, Finish, Romanian, Latvian and Lithuanian.Her prose has been translated into Finish, Latvian, German, English, Swedish and Russian.
Her last novel "Plague Grave" (2007) has been published in Finish (Ruttohauta, 2011) and in Latvian (Mēra kaps, 2014)

Ene Mihkelson's legacy is managed through the Ene Mihkelson Society formed in 2018. The aim of the society is to keep live her legacy and the ideas and values unique to her.Society was formed by 25 Estonian intellectuals and has currently around 50 members from Estonia and around the world. It organises yearly seminars and conferences, gives out scholarships and a prize.
